Notes

The PRO land dispute document states that Caleb Going was Jane Going's brother. The IGI lists a Caleb Going b. about 1812 in Traverston, Tipperary, parents Thomas Going and Frances Powell, while the Going tree on the internet gives him a birth date of 1799, and provides a number of other siblings. I have an unsourced note of a child named Dinah Frances Fishbourne whom I suspect may be a child of Joseph F. and Jane Going. This has now proved to be the case, as her marriage certificate (1869) gives her father as Joseph, gent. and her death cert. gives her mother as Jane. (source Gerry) There is a note of a will of Jane Fishbourne, (executor John Gardiner Fishbourne) dated 1904. This may be Jane Going, although there are a number of other possible Jane F's around. As the 1881 census establishes her birth year as 1809/10 a death in 1904 seems a bit late. The 1881 census shows Jane as a widow aged 71 living with her daughter Frances Thompson and husband and children, in Dunoon, Scotland.
