  David's flight took off from Grimsby on the evening of December 23rd 1943 heading for Berlin. After climbing away from the airfield, the Lancaster was involved in a collision with a 100 Squadron aircraft (ND327), both crashing at Fulstow between Grimsby and Louth. Seven crew were on board.
