Notes

Charles Edward Fishbourne is listed as a Major in Saur's Encyclopaedia on line. The reference given is to Walford.

He was also found at the age of 12 at the Grammar School, Market Place, Oakham Lordshold, Rutland, England, in the 1881 census. He was the only Irish boy at the school.

The birth notice for his unnamed son in the Irish Times of September 22 1909, states that he is a Major in the 5th Fusiliers. This is the only source indicating that he was married. However it describes him as Major Charles H. Fishbourne, which casts a little doubt on whether this is in fact Major Charles E. Fishbourne.
