  There is no baptism for William aka Peter in the Tullow register, although most (but not all) of his siblings are recorded there. William aka Peter was recorded on his death certificate as Peter Fishbourne, son of Peter F. coachbuilder, born in Co. Carlow. His wife is recorded as Eliza Davenport, whom he married in Chatham, England. His living children are given as: Margaret, William, Elizabeth and Charles. There is virtually no doubt that this Peter is identical with the Peter Bourne who enlisted in the British Army in 1872, and who married Eliza Davenport in December of that year. Whether this Peter is the William Fishbourne born to Peter Henry F. and Margaret Meredith is slightly less certain, However Charles Fishbourne claimed Peter as an elder brother when he himself enlisted in 1869, giving as his parents Peter Fishbourne and Margaret Meredith. Thomas also claimed him as a brother. William is listed as living, on Margaret Meredith's death certificate in 1884, but there is no mention of a Peter, either living or dead. This info would have been supplied by Margaretta Emily Strange nee Fishbourne (her husband filled in the cert.) and as she was b. 1854 it would be almost impossible for her to have forgotten the existence of a brother four years her senior. She certainly remembered everyone else, even if she didn't know their ages. Information about Peter Bourne aka William Peter Fishbourne has come from his Great Granddaughter Margaret Fraser of Tunbridge, Kent, and from the Australian death certificates of Peter and Thomas Fishbourne. It is interesting to note that there was a BOURNE family living in Tullow at the same time as the Fishbournes.
