• Notes

  Gladys Ella Sadler was married to Jack Fisher. He was in the army in India and Glad sailed overseas to marry him without the blessing of her mother, Annie-Kate! Unbeknownst to Annie-Kate, Glad's brother Joe and his siblings secretly waved goodbye to her at the station. Unfortunately, in all the excitement, she left her handbag and all her important documents with Nell on the platform. Joe was sent down to Southampton to see her off at the quayside and give her the forgotten handbag! He would not see her again for more than 45 years until the Sadler reunion in 1962.
