The magnificent St John polyptych in St Mary’s Church, Lydiard Tregoze, was commissioned by John St John and was painted 15 years after the deaths of his parents who take centre stage. The painting also features John and his wife Anne, together with his six sisters. Strangely his brother Walter is not included.
